Free TEAS science practice questions for all four science areas

TEAS science practice split the way the exam is scored: human anatomy and physiology (12%, 18 scored items), biology (6%, 9), chemistry (5%, 8) and scientific reasoning (6%, 9) — with a worked explanation and a named mistake on every wrong choice.

TEAS science practice questions here are split four ways, because ATI scores the science section as four separate sub-content areas — human anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, and scientific reasoning. Every item comes with a worked explanation and the reasoning behind each wrong choice, and the science section is the largest on the exam: 29% of the paper, 44 scored items, in 60 minutes.

What the science section is made of

Sub-content area Weight Scored items What it asks
Human anatomy and physiology 12% 18 the body's systems, their organs and their functions
Biology 6% 9 cells, cell division, genetics, macromolecules
Chemistry 5% 8 atomic structure, the periodic table, bonding, reactions, pH
Scientific reasoning 6% 9 the design of an experiment, variables, measurement, and reading a result

The sub-content area names, their weights and their item counts are ATI's published outline; the wording in the "What it asks" column is ours, describing what our practice items cover.

Human anatomy and physiology is tied with numbers and algebra as the largest sub-content area on the whole exam — 18 scored items, 12% — and the other three science areas together are 26 of the section's 44 scored items, 17%. That split is the first thing to plan around: a science set that samples evenly across the four areas will spend most of its time away from the largest block.

The pace

Sixty minutes for fifty items works out to about 1.2 minutes an item, the same pace as the reading section. A scientific-reasoning item can be answered with no memorized fact at all, and a chemistry item can hinge on one trend across the periodic table — so a science set drills the reasoning as much as the recall.

The free science sets

Each set carries a hint, a full explanation, and a reason for every wrong choice. The teaching behind them is in the guides: human anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, and scientific reasoning. The systems in one place, as a reference, are on body systems.

What these sets are not

They do not predict a score. ATI equates its total and content-area scores across forms, so a percentage from a practice set is not a TEAS score, and no school's admission bar can be read off one. Nor are they official items: ATI publishes no scored science bank, and every question here is written by us to ATI's published outline.

The whole-paper numbers are on how many questions are on the TEAS, and the other three sections are at TEAS practice test.
