Privacy Policy

Elk Ridge Academy ("we", "us") operates elkridgeacademy.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to describe what the product actually does, not to claim protections we have not built.

What we collect

  • Account details. If you create an account we store your email address, and the display name and avatar your identity provider (Google) returns. We do not store passwords — sign-in is by Google OAuth or an emailed one-time login link.
  • Study activity. Which questions you answer, whether each answer was correct, how long you took, and when. This is what makes progress tracking and the study plan work.
  • Billing details. If you buy a course pass, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card. We store only the resulting identifiers (customer and payment reference), your pass status, and the amount paid. We never see or store your card number.
  • Support messages. If you contact us in-app, we store the thread and the email address it was opened with, so we can reply.
  • Email delivery. Account and login emails (like sign-in links) are sent through our email hosting provider, Porkbun. Product and study emails are sent through Resend, which reports whether a message was delivered, opened, or clicked, and we log that against your address so we can stop sending to people who are not reading.
  • Usage limits and analytics. We count requests to prevent abuse; for logged-out visitors that count is keyed to a salted, one-way hash of your IP address, not the address itself. We also use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not share your study history with anyone, including advertisers.
  • We do not publish learner profiles. There is no public profile page and no leaderboard — your progress is visible only to you.

Email

We send two distinct kinds of email, over separate sending streams:

  • Service email — login links, receipts, and essential account messages. These are required for the service to work and cannot be switched off while you have an account.
  • Marketing email — study tips, product updates, and offers. You can turn these off at any time from your account page or the unsubscribe link in any such email. Turning them off does not affect service email.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in, and Google Analytics to measure aggregate traffic. Analytics data is used to decide what content to build, not to build advertising profiles.

Your controls

  • Access and correction — your account page shows your details, and you can update your marketing preference there.
  • Deletion — you can delete your account from your account page. Deletion removes your profile, practice history, email preferences, billing-record identifiers, and support threads (open and closed) from our own system. It is immediate and permanent.
  • Export — contact us and we will provide your study history.

How long we keep things

Study activity, email history, and support threads are kept while your account exists and are deleted with it — a deleted account leaves no archive on our side. Stripe, our payment processor, independently keeps the underlying transaction records (charges and receipts) for as long as tax and accounting law requires. That is Stripe’s copy, not ours, and it is outside our control.

Children

Some exams we cover are taken by people under 18. The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Independent study resource

Elk Ridge Academy is an independent study resource. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any exam-owning or certifying body. Exam names are used descriptively to identify the subject matter.
