HESI A2 Practice Test: Free Practice Questions
A free HESI A2 practice test: a short mixed set of questions written for this course, drawn across the topics the course teaches, with a hint on every free question, an explanation after it and the named mistake behind every wrong choice. Not the exam, and no score claim.
Practice
Question 1 of 25
25 questions in this set, in the order they are listed.
Question 1 of 25. Which word group is a complete sentence?
Hint: Look for a subject and a verb that can carry the whole thought, not a phrase that trails off.
A HESI A2 practice test is worth taking for one reason: it tells you which content area is costing you points. The set at the top of this page is a short mix drawn across the topics this course teaches, written for this course — and a reader who holds the pass meets a fresh mix from the whole bank on each visit. It is not the exam, not an official set and not a score, and this page claims no item count, no clock and no pass mark because the publisher publishes none.
Work through them in order. The explanation under a wrong answer is worth more than the mark beside a right one.
What the set gives you
Nothing on this page runs on a clock, and there is no limit on how often you open it. The set needs no account and no card, and a reader who holds the pass meets the rest of the bank on the same page.
- A hint before you answer. The questions here carry one, because a wrong answer should cost a minute rather than an evening.
- An explanation of the right answer, in the terms the topic's guide teaches it.
- A reason for every wrong choice — the named mistake that choice is built from, so the attractive answer stops being attractive.
- No time limit. Pacing is a separate skill and a separate sitting; a set run on a clock teaches the clock instead of the material.
- The marking at the end, with the questions you missed still on the page, so you read each explanation beside the question it belongs to.
Signed out, a set keeps none of your answers. Signed in, an answer is saved to your own history so the topic it belongs to can show what you missed — it is yours, nobody else sees it, and there is no leaderboard to climb.
What a set here is not
It is not the exam. Elsevier publishes no national content specification for the HESI A2 — no item count, no clock, no cut score — so nothing on this page claims an official weighting, and the sections a program requires are that program's decision. The exam format page carries the sourced account of what a sitting includes, and the scores page carries what is published about scoring.
It is not copied material. Each question here is written by us, with four options and one best answer. None is reproduced from any published test-preparation material or from the exam.
It is not a score estimate. We do not predict a score. A set tells you which topic to work on next, and the guide for that topic is where the work happens.
It is not a lucky dip. The questions are drawn across all ten topics and across several procedures within each, so a run through them samples the course rather than ten versions of the same arithmetic.
Work a topic at a time
One question is a sample; a topic's own set is the practice. Each line links the guide that teaches the topic and the set that tests it.
- Basic Operations — order of operations, fractions, decimals and percentages, the arithmetic every later math topic stands on. Practice set
- Ratio and Proportion — writing a ratio, solving a proportion, and working with per-unit rates. Practice set
- Measurement and Conversion — household and metric units, temperatures, times and Roman numerals. Practice set
- Dosage Calculation — a dose from a concentration, weight-based dosing, IV flow rates and drop factors. Practice set
- Reading Comprehension — main idea, supporting detail, inference, purpose and tone. Practice set
- Vocabulary — meaning from context, word parts, and the science words a health program uses. Practice set
- Grammar — agreement, pronoun reference, punctuation, usage and sentence structure. Practice set
- Biology — cells and organelles, DNA and inheritance, mitosis and meiosis, metabolism. Practice set
- Chemistry — atomic structure, bonding, reactions, solutions, acids and bases, concentration. Practice set
- Anatomy and Physiology — the body's systems, their organs, and how they work together. Practice set
When you want the whole bank
The topic sets are open to everyone, and so is the set at the top of this page — a short mix drawn across the course. What the pass adds is the rest of every topic's bank, and the progress layer that records what you missed. The HESI A2 page says what is open today. If you have a date to work toward, the study guide says what order to work the topics in.
